Storyboard

When doing my final Storyboard I started making different character designs, two of my character designs (the scientists) are inspired by when I did experiments with paint- trying to make faces out of randoms shapes. Her family members had to look similar to my character design of Anning so I didn't experiment too much with these characters and kept them quite simple. I wanted the artist who creates Durio Antiquior to have messy hair to imitate the look of a stereotypical artist. This was decided so that children easily understood who he was.

Final Design of Storyboard on A2 cartridge paper.

Each segment has a different caption
  1. Struck by lightning as baby. People around her attributed her intelligence to this freak accident
  2. Mary Anning sold fossils since she was a young child with her brother and father.
  3. When Mary Anning just turned 11, her brother, Joseph, found Ichthyosaur skull, they sold it for £23!

  1. Mary Anning found her first Plesiosaurus "flying dragon"
  2. Anning hand-copied Scientific literature to educate herself- She even added her own notes
  3. Anning compared fossils to similar animals by dissecting them and comparing bone structures to understand how they would have moved, ate and live.

  1. Her friend painted the Durio Antiquior, sold prints of it to help fund her career. It was a collection of her fossil findings.
  2. As she became more well-known, Scientists came to her for consultations an help with their work... ...However, she never got full recognition
  3. Anning eventually saved up enough money to buy a house to display her fossil collection
